During WWII, George "Snuffy" Stirnweiss was the New York Yankees' outstanding second baseman. In 1944 and ‘45, Stirnweiss led the American League in hits, runs scored and triples and in 1945, he won the batting title. This Hillerich and Bradsby bat has the labeling period from 1943-49. It is a 35", 32 3/4 oz. S146 model bat that shows great game use with a slight handle crack. There is some grain separation on the rear side of the barrel. This bat was sent back to Hillerich & Bradsby and was received on August 7, 1945. The bat was used as a model for future orders of the S146 model. H&B has vault-marked the bat by stamping the model number into the knob and top of the barrel.
