Nicknamed "The Great One," Wayne Gretzky is deservedly referred to as the greatest hockey player of all time. He set 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records, six All-Star records, won four Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers, nine MVP awards and ten scoring titles. He has totaled over 200 points in a season on four separate occasions. In addition, he tallied over 100 points a season for 16 NHL seasons, 14 of them consecutively. He is the only player to have his number (99) officially retired by the National Hockey League for all teams. In his first NHL season, 1979-1980, he was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as the League's Most Valuable Player (the first of eight in a row) and tied for the scoring lead with 137 points, which remains the most points by a first-year player. Inside the back below the collar is the “STARTER” manufacturer’s tag, below is the white “GRETZKY” name tag with black embroidery. Across the front of the jersey is the large Rangers team “Lady Liberty” logo. Across the back is “GRETZKY” sewn directly onto the jersey. The player number “99” appears on both sleeves as well as the back of the jersey. All lettering and numbering is done in red on white on grey tackle twill. On both shoulders is the traditional “NEW YORK RANGERS” team logo patch. On the back right and left tails of the jersey are the embroidered “NHL” and “STARTER” logos. On the inside front tail is a patch that reads “Wayne Gretzky Set 2 1998-1999 Season”. The fighting strap is intact. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from Photo-Match.com signed by Mike Heffner of Leland's and hobby veteran Nick Coppola.
