Bob Lanier was drafted number one overall by the Pistons and was named to the All-Rookie Team in 1971. He starred for Detroit until being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1980, and in his five seasons there the Bucks won the division championship each year. In his 14 NBA seasons, Lanier averaged 20.1 ppg and 10.1 rebounds per game, playing in eight All-Star Games; he was the MVP of the 1974 contest. Admired for his solid work habits and a deadly hook shot, he excelled in an era of outstanding centers such as Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lanier was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992 and had his number 16 jersey retired by both the Pistons and the Bucks. On the front left tail is the Wilson manufacturer’s tag size “48” with washing instructions. Attached is a flag tag that has been heavily faded and is unreadable. Across the chest reads “PISTONS”. Below and on the back is the player number “16”. Across the back is the player name “LANIER”. All numbering and lettering is done in blue on red tackle twill. There is a slight tear on the lower portion of the front player number “6”. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied LOA from Photo-Match.com confirming the match.
