John Havlicek was a part of the Boston Celtics for 16 years. During those years, Havlicek won eight championship rings and received NBA Finals MVP honors in 1974. He was the first player to score 1,000 points in each of 16 consecutive NBA seasons. "Hondo" was selected to play in 13 All-Star games and retired in 1978 as the Celtics all-time leading scorer with 26,395 points. Named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996, Havlicek was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984. Offered in this lot is an incredibly rare Havlicek full road uniform from the 1970-71 season, which was the last season that the Celtics did not wear player names on the back of their jerseys. On the front left tail is the Sand-Knit manufacturer's tag size “44” with washing instructions. Adjacent above is a seldom seen Musinsky’s distributors tag. Across the chest reads “CELTICS”. Below and across the back is the player number “17”. All numbering and lettering is done in white tackle twill. Havlicek signed the front of the jersey inside the “7” in blue ink and in our opinion the signature rates a 7. Inside the rear of the shorts beneath the waistband is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “34” with washing instructions. Adjacent above is the Musinsky’s distributors tag. On the right thigh is the official “NBA” logo patch. There is team piping down the outside legs. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from Photo-Match.com grading the jersey a perfect 10 noting the highly probable match as well as a Full LOA from JSA for the autograph.
