Billy Sims was a two-time Consensus All-American while at the University of Oklahoma winning the coveted Heisman Trophy in 1978. During his Heisman campaign Sims rushed for 1,762 yards on only 231 rushing attempts scoring 20 touchdowns. Sims narrowly missed a consecutive Heisman trophy in 1979 finishing second behind Charles White of USC. Sims was drafted first overall in the 1980 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. Sims was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three NFL seasons before suffering a horrific knee injury on October 21, 1984 against the Minnesota Vikings which effectively ended his career. On the front left tail is the Speedline Athletic Wear manufacturer’s tag size “L 42-44” with washing instructions. Across the front, back, and on both sleeves is the player number “20” painted on in white. Across the back on a maroon knit nameplate is the player name “SIMS” done in white tackle twill. There are dirt stains and hit marks throughout the unwashed jersey which presents beautifully. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from Heritage and an additional LOA grading the shirt an A10.
