None of us will ever hit 70 home runs in a season, but we can hold in our hands the bat the home run king has used to terrorize big league pitching. A Big Mac bat has a certain mythological quality to it, given that McGwire has taken on a godlike quality since 1988 when he cranked those 70 stitched orbs over various stadium fences, laying waste to Roger Maris's home run record of 61. McGwire has redefined the parameters of power hitting. With 554 homers and counting, he came into the 2001 season seventh all-time, and could easily be only behind Mays, Ruth and Aaron by season's end. This Rawlings bat has the labeling period from 1999. It is a 34 ½", 33 oz. MAC25 model bat that shows nice game use and is uncracked. There is nice pine tar on the handle of the bat.
