Emile “Butch” Bouchard was a four-time NHL Stanley Cup Champion with the Montreal Canadiens. He was the captain of the Canadiens for eight years and was voted to the NHL All-Star Team four times. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame 1966 and had his number “3” retired by the Canadiens in 2009. Offered is Bouchard’s game-used beautiful vintage wool sweater from the first official NHL All-Star game, held in Toronto in 1947. Below the rear collar is the McNiece’s “SPORTS-MONTREAL” manufacturer’s tag. The sweater features blue and white stripes down both sleeves. Across the chest is a white and red chenille crest reading “NHL”. Above the crest and on the back are five white felt stars. Across the back is the player number “3” done in blue on white felt. The sweater still displays vibrant red, white and blue colors. There are reddish brown stains on the right back collar and various small holes on the front, back and both sleeves from aging that do not interfere with the displayability of this amazing sweater from the first NHL All-Star game. This piece remains in immaculate condition. This sweater is properly tagged, was presented to us as All-Star game and in our opinion shows appropriate use. A true piece of hockey history. Accompanied by a Bouchard LOA on Classic Auctions' letterhead and a Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey a 9.5.
