Lorne “Gump” Worsley was one of the last goalies to not wear a mask. He won four Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1980. With the expansion of the NHL in 1967, and the creation of the West Division, the Prince Of Wales Trophy was given to the team that finished in first place in the East Division, during the regular season. This trophy stands approximately 13 inches tall. The front plate is engraved reading “H.R.H. PRINCE of WALES TROPHY LORNE WORSLEY” and the back plate reads “N.H.L. CHAMPIONS WINNERS 1967,68 CLUB DE HOCKEY CANADIEN”. A small piece has been cracked and repaired.
