On March 8th 1861 President Abraham Lincoln nominated “Master Weld N. Allen to be a lieutenant in the Navy, from the 24 February, 1861” and on March 14th, his appointment was consented to by the U.S. Senate. This approximately 14.5x17 inch document has been signed by the President with his full name “Abraham Lincoln” in high grade black ink that has remained in tremendous EX-MT condition over time. Lincoln’s Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles signed on the opposite side on the appropriate line and presents well however slightly more faded than the signature of Lincoln. The top of the document reads “Abraham Lincoln President of the United States of America” and on the bottom is a complete Navy Department orange paper seal. There is light creasing but does not interfere with the beautiful Lincoln signature. This vintage document has not faded and presents fantastically. Accompanied by a Full LOA from JSA and a PSA/DNA LOA.
Outstanding Abraham Lincoln Signed 1863 Naval Commission Document (Full JSA & PSA • Signed As President With Full Abraham Lincoln High Grade Signature)
