Gene Tenace opened the 1972 World Series by hitting home runs in his first two World Series at-bats, a feat that no one else has ever done. Tenace went on to win World Series MVP. The Oakland A’s added front player numbers following the regular season in 1972 for the playoffs and World Series. Inside the front tail is the McAuliffe manufacturer’s tag. Above is the year “1972” and below is the size “42”. Inside the front right tail is a washing instructions tag. On the left chest is the team “A’s” logo. Adjacent and on the back is the player number “38”. These are done in white on yellow tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “TENACE” in white tackle twill. There are spot reinforcements to the rear numerals and front "A" done by the team. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. This is the best Gene Tenace in the hobby. Accompanied by a Family LOA and a LOA from Photo-Match.com confirming the match and an additional Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey a perfect 10.
