In 1935, as a rookie with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cy Blanton led the National League with a 2.58 ERA. This jersey was worn by Blanton in the 1938 and 39 seasons. The centennial patch was removed from the left sleeve after the 1939 season. In the neck of the jersey is the name "D Blanton" in red chain stitch. Below this is the "Spalding" label and adjacent is the size tag "46". On the inside back tail is the year "38" which has been done in red chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Pirates" in script style letters made of red on blue/white felt and on the back is the player number "46" in blue felt numbers. The jersey shows game use and with the exception of the removed centennial patch appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
