Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953, Dizzy Dean was one of the most spectacular pitchers of his time. A member of the St. Louis Cardinals "Gas House Gang" Dean teamed up with his brother Paul to help lead the Cards to a pennant in 1934. This circa 1933-34 was used by Dean and dates from around the season that he became the last pitcher in the history of the National League to win 30 games. The jacket is made of red wool with blue trim at the collar and on the ends of the sleeves. The interior of the jacket has been beautifully lined in leather. The Cardinals logo patch is on the left breast. There is a size tag "46" in the collar and Dean's jersey number "17" is on the inside, in sewn on felt. The jacket shows wear and has aged. There are a few small areas where the material on the jacket has deteriorated. Dizzy Dean game-used items are almost non-existent, and this is like holding history in your hands.
