A five time All-Star with the St. Louis Cardinals, Bill White was a key player for the club who went on to defeat the 1964 New York Yankees in seven games of the World Series. After his playing career, White became the President of the National League. On the left front tail is the "Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel" label and adjacent is the size tag "44". Below this is the year "59" in red chain stitch. On the inside lower left is the wash tag and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1959". Across the front of the jersey is the name "Cardinals" in script style letters made of red on blue embroidered stitch. Going through the letter "C" is a gold embroidered bat with a red embroidered Cardinal perched on each end. On the back of the jersey is the player number "12" in red on blue felt. There is an autograph on the left front of the shirt in black marker that rates 8. Almost all the Cardinals shirts that we have seen have the name embroidered in the tail. This jersey does not. We have concluded that this was either an extra jersey worn by Bill White or a minor league jersey worn by someone else. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
