The friendly confines of Wrigley Field can seem more like the confines of a Frigidaire once the hawk wind starts whipping off Lake Michigan, leaving those pitchers in the unprotected bullpens feeling like ice statues. Even back in the 1950s, when men seemed tougher, a heavy-duty, full-length coat better suited to the Chicago Bears was a general issue item to Cubs relievers. A great example is this coat from the early ‘50s, which has stood up to the elements and time surely better than the Cubs have. The deep blue color has remained bright and vivid and the dark brown fur around the neck and tan interior lining are nearly flawless except for an area of tearing and some attempted stitch-repairing on the lower left front. The old Cubs' logo dominated by the large red letter "C", on white background and with blue border, is sewn onto the left breast, a red and white band runs from armpit to shoulder on each side, and five brown buttons up the front.
