Patrick Ewing was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. Attached to the read collar is the Descente manufacturer’s tag reading “MADE IN JAPAN FABRIQUE AU JAPON” with an attached flag tag reading “SIZE NO 5 MADE IN JAPAN”. On the left inseam is a flag tag with jersey materials and washing instructions. On the upper right chest is an official “Descente” logo in white. Across the chest reads “USA”. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “6”. All numbering and lettering is done in red on silver light-weight heat pressed vinyl. Ewing signed inside the front player number “6” in black marker and in our opinion the signature rates a near 9. In 2008 Grey Flannel Auctions sold Ewing’s 1984 Gold Medal Game jersey. This jersey differs slightly in that the manufacturer’s tag reads “MADE IN JAPAN” and is a size “5” as opposed to a “4”, which is appropriate for something Ewing would wear. There is a photo of Michael Jordan in an earlier 1984 Olympic Game vs Uruguay where the outside identifier looks more silver/gray than white as does this jersey. This jersey was not worn in the title game against Spain but possibly earlier in the games including trials and tryouts which would account for the acceptable variations. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
