Shohei Ohtani made international headlines when he came to the United States to play in the MLB from Japan. Nicknamed “The Japanese Babe Ruth”, Ohtani immediately made an impact from both the mound and at the plate. In his rookie season, Ohtani swatted 22 home runs as a hitter and also struck out 63 batters in 51.2 innings as a pitcher. Injuries limited his final season numbers but Ohtani has made his presence felt throughout the sport. Ohtani hit this baseball to record his 17th career home run on September 5, 2018 against the Texas Rangers. Ohtani crushed the home run in the top of the 5th inning to right field and also homered again later in the game. He finished the game 4-4 with two home runs and 4 RBI. Rawlings manufactured OML Manfred baseball. The baseball shows game use with dirt scuffing and a blue mark presumably from impact on the bat. This baseball is accompanied by extensive documentation from the gentleman who caught the ball as well as the transfer of ownership to our consignor.
