Considered by many to be the greatest all-around player to ever take the field Willie Mays has the numbers to back that up. A 24 time All-Star Mays ended his career with 3,283 hits, 660 home runs, and a .302 lifetime batting average. The 1951 rookie of the year and two time MVP Mays won an astounding 12 Gold Gloves. The "Say Hey Kid" was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1979 capturing nearly 95% of the vote for that year. This MacGragor super bonded kangaroo KCX leather outfielder's glove was used by May's during the 1960s. The glove is accompanied by a letter from retired umpire Ed Vargo. The glove was presented to Vargo by Mays who the signed it for him "Best Wishes Willie Mays" on the back of the first and third fingers. Mays has also signed the glove on the thumb. The signatures have sunk into the supple leather over the years and have become faint.
