Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker, two of the best shortstop and second base tandems, came up to the Major Leagues together in 1977. They then played next to each other for another 18 seasons, and became duo whose longevity together will probably never be matched again. On the left front tail of Trammel's jersey is a gray patch with the number "7". This is a Tigers wash code. Next to this is another gray patch with the numbers "79 1" denoting the year and set number, respectively. Both these labels have been done in blue chain stitch. Next to this is the "Wilson" label which includes the size "42". Above this is an autograph in black marker that rates a 7. Across the front of the shirt is the name "Detroit" in blue on orange tackle twill and on the back is the name "Trammell" in blue tackle twill. The nameplate has been removed and the name has been restored to the shirt. On the left front tail of the Whitaker jersey is the "Rawlings" label with the size "38" and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1978". Next to this is a gray patch with the numbers "78 1 38" done in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the year, set number and size, respectively. Next to this is another gray patch with the number "16" done is blue chain stitch. This is a Tigers wash code. Across the front of the shirt is the name "Detroit" in blue on orange tackle twill and on the back is the name "Whitaker" in blue tackle twill The nameplate has been removed and the name has been restored to the shirt. Both jerseys come with an additional letter of authenticity explaining how the jerseys were sent to the minor leagues. The jerseys show game use and with the exception of the removed nameplates and restored names, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
