A three time Cy Young award winner Jim Palmer was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1990. Over his 19 year career he pitched 268 wins with a lifetime ERA of 2.86 and had eight twenty win seasons. A key member of six World champion Baltimore teams Palmer is the Orioles' all time winningest pitcher. In the neck of the jersey is a gray felt patch reading "46 Set 2 69 22" in black chain stitch. The numbers denote the size, set number, year, and player number, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Spalding" label and adjacent is the size tag "46." Below this is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Baltimore" in script style letters and on the back is the name "Palmer." The player number "22" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. All the letters and numbers are made of orange on black felt. The name on the back has been restored. On the left sleeve is baseball's "100th Anniversary" patch. The jersey shows game use and with the exception of the restored name, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
