During the ‘96 season, Big Mac tied a major league standard by smacking 2 home runs in one inning (September 22) and he reached the 50-homer plateau for the first time in his career, jacking 52 over the wall, also knocking in 113 runs and hitting .312. Although this was McGwire's last full season with the Oakland Athletics after a decade of service, he liked the feeling so much he would hit 50 or more homers over the next three seasons, including his historic 70 round-trippers in ‘98 and 65 in ‘99 for the St. Louis Cardinals. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "52" and below is the "2" Extra Length" label. Below this is the year tag "1996." Across the front is the name "Athletics" in script style letters and on the back is a white nameplate with the name "McGwire." The player number "25" appears on both the left breast and on the back. All the letters and numbers are made of green on gold tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
