The last man to truly threaten the .400 batting average mark, sweet swinging George Brett was an icon in Kansas City. This hall of famer finished his career with a .305 batting average and 3,154 hits. In the neck of the shirt is a restored "Wilson" label with the size "44" and below is a blue label reading "73 Set 1". This label has been done in blue chain stitch. Next to this is an autograph in blue marker that rates a 7. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Kansas City" and on the back is the player number "25". The letters and numbers are made of white tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the Royals patch. The jersey comes with an index card from Brett explaining how he wore the number "5" during his rookie year and switched to number "5" in 1974 when Richie Schienblum was traded to the Angels. This ex-Halper jersey shows game use and with the exception of the restored "Wilson" label, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
