In Game 5 of the 1979 World Series with the Pirates in a must win game, Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven pitched four scoreless innings in relief to get the win and stave off elimination. The Pirates ultimately won Games 6 and 7 to win the Championship. On the front left tail is the Descente manufacturer’s tag with an attached flag tag with jersey materials and washing instructions. Adjacent below is a black strip tag reading “22 44 79” embroidered in yellow. Across the chest reads “PIRATES”. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “22”. All numbering and lettering is done in the same yellow tackle twill. NOB and plate removed. Blyleven signed the front of the jersey in silver marker with the added inscription “”WE ARE FAMILY” 1979 WS CHAMPS” and in our opinion the signature rates a 9. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
