The late 1970s marked a critical change for the better in Nolan Ryan's pitching style. "Ryan's
Express" dominated hitters in the American League from 1972-79 while he was the ace of the California Angels, but in ‘78 he finally begun to harness his control and cut down on his high walk totals, which that season fell from 204 to 148. The following season. Ryan fanned 223 while walking just 114. This subtle refinement would add years to his career, which carried on in successful stops with the Astros and Rangers before the end of the line in 1993. On this late 1970s Angels white pullover home jersey with red and blue trim, Ryan's signature in blue sharpie appears in the collar and grades a near 10. The word "Angels" is stitched across the chest and "30" can be found on both the left breast and beneath "Ryan" on the reverse. There is an M. Goodman & Sons tag stitched on the front left tail and a California patch on the left sleeve. The uniform shows good game-use with some fraying on the numbers and subtly light areas of grime and wear. From the Barry Halper collection of baseball memorabilia.
