Hall of Famer Willie McCovey collected the 2,000th hit of his storied career with this bat on September 7, 1977 at Riverfront Stadium against the Cincinnati Reds. The bat has been mounted on this display that measures 38x12”. Manufacturer: Louisville Slugger Model Number: M110L Length: 34 inches. Handwritten on the knob is the player number “44” and “MAC” in period faded black marker. The bat shows evidence of game use with ball and bat rack marks that include ink transfer. Engraved on a plate above the bat reads “LOUISVILLE SLUGGER AWARD HILLERICH & BRADSBY LOUISVILLE, KY.”. Engraved beneath the bat on an additional plate is “WITH THIS LOUISVILLE SLUGGER WILLIE McCOVEY COLLECTED HIS 2,000TH MAJOR LEAGUE HIT AT RIVERFRONT STADIUM CINCINNATI, OHIO SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS VS CINCINNATI REDS SEPTEMBER 7, 1977”.
