Ozzie Smith was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002 on the first ballot. In the rear sweatband of the cap is the New Era “PRO MODEL” manufacturers tag. Adjacent is a heavily faded flag tag and the MLB “OFFICIAL LICENSE” tag. Underneath the bill is the player number “1” handwritten in black marker. Smith signed on the bill in black marker and in our opinion the signature rates a near 8. The cap shows heavy game use with sweat staining readily apparent. Attached to the rear collar of the undershirt is the Mizuno manufacturers tag with an attached flag tag reading the shirt materials. On the inside and outside neck is the player number “1” handwritten in period faded black marker. This cap and shirt are properly tagged and were presented to us as game-used with attribution to Ozzie Smith.
