The all-time home run king Barry Bonds was appointment television during the 2001 season when cracking down on Mark McGwire’s single-season home run mark of 70. Bonds set the bar with 73 home runs in a single-season, a record that may never be broken. The 2001 season was one of seven National League MVP seasons for Bonds, who was also a 14-time All-Star. Manuf: Original Maple Bat Co., Model Number: 2K1, Length: 34 in., Weight: 32.9 oz., Wood: Maple, Labeling Period: 2001, Finish: Black/Brown. This bat is uncracked and shows evidence of excellent use. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel. Ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel. The handle has been taped in a tight spiral then criss-cross pattern to enhance the grip. The length, weight, date of manufacture, model number and Bonds’ initials are written on the top barrel in black ink. Bonds signed the bat with the added inscription “8-31-01 #551” on the front barrel and in our opinion the signature rates a strong 8. Adjacent to the signature is a Bonds hologram. Accompanied by a Full LOA from JSA, a PSA/DNA LOA grading the bat a GU 10 and a Bonds LOA.
