Arnold Palmer is part of "The Big Three" in golf, along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who are widely credited with popularizing and commercializing the sport around the world. Palmer won the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, and in 1974 was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. His tally of sixty-two PGA Tour titles ranks fifth in professional golf history. Palmer's passing at age eighty-seven in September 2016 dealt the sport a heavy blow and further elevated the collectibles market. On an engraved plaque in the offered shadow box display reads "This set is part of a very exclusive collection of golf clubs personally owned by the legendary Arnold Palmer. This particular set of The Standard irons (3-PW) were played by Mr. Palmer at the height of his career during the 1980's. Only five sets of Palmer used golf clubs have been released to distinguished private collectors worldwide. The rest of Mr. Palmer's extensive collection of clubs will remain on permanent display at his headquarters in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and the USGA museum in Far Hills, New Jersey." The eight clubs exhibit fine match use and are showcased with a signed 2000 Masters flag and in our opinion the signature rates a near 10. The shadow box measures 51x43x3". Accompanied by documentation from "Sports Images International," which has served as the primary licensing partner for autographs and memorabilia from "Arnold Palmer Enterprises" for more than twenty years.
