Charlie Hayes went 3 for 5 in the Brewers 8-2 win over the New York Mets. Charlie was safe on a throwing error by the third baseman in the third inning but was erased on a double play. He singled to right with the score tied in the sixth inning, sending runners to second and third, and advanced to second after a single by Ron Belliard. Hayes moved to third on a sacrifice fly but was stranded as Paul Rigdon struck out. Charlie singled to lead off the eigth against Mets reliever Bobby J. Jones and advanced to second on a walk to Belliard but was forced at third on a groundout. Hayes hit a 2-1 pitch off reliever Rich Rodriquez in the ninth over the left field fence for his ninth home run of the year.
