Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946 Joe Tinker was one of Chicago's greatest players in the earlier part of the 20th century. Tinker led the National League shortstops in fielding four times, and contributed to four Chicago pennants. Dated Jan 30, 1947, the year before he passed away, this letter was written by Tinker in black fountain pen. This letter is a response to the letter written to Tinker by Bert Shepard at the request of Clark Griffith (see previous lot). In the letter he discusses getting a "new leg" with Bert. The letter is in very good to excellent condition with some light staining. The top edge has some small tears and there are two fold lines as this was once put in an envelope. The signature rates an 8.
