The "Sultan of Swat" was the first player to hit 30, 40, 50 and 60 home runs in a season. From the years 1918 to 1931, he led the league in home runs an incredible twelve out of the fourteen years. This 12" x 18" walnut grain plaque honors Ruth's 1936 induction into the Hall of Fame. The black and white photo shows a young, slim Babe Ruth in home pinstripes with arms crossed. The man who broke and set numerous records stares out, deep in thought. Below the photo is a check written and signed by Ruth. It is dated April 19, 1937 and is signed, "G H Ruth" in black fountain pen. The signature rates a 9. A piece of the bottom left corner is torn off. Despite the small missing piece, the check and the plaque are in excellent condition.
