During the 1940's, Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb managed against each other in an "All-American Boy's Baseball Fundraising Game." A 7" x 9" sepia photo was produced of each team's manager and coaches, and included in this lot are both photos signed by the pictured participants on the front and the rest of the teams on the back. The East team photo has been signed on the front by Ruth, Carl Hubbell, and Gordon Maguire and Ruth's black ink signature would rate a 10 if not for smudges that reduce it to a 7. The 16 signatures on the back are in blue and black ink. The West team photo has been signed by Cobb alone on the front and his signature rates an 8. Included among the 12 blue and black ink signatures on the back are those of Mel Ott and Joe McCarthy, and Ott's huge blue ink signature rates a 9.
