“XL” sized Riddell helmet. On the inside shell are two “WARNING” labels and a “2002 Recertified” label. The player number “77” sticker is also on the inside left ear. The clips date the helmet to “02”. The Chiefs decal is on both sides and on the back is a “NFL” decal and an additional “WARNING” decal. Priest Holmes signed the outer shell of the helmet in black marker and in our opinion the signature rates a 6. It was common practice for equipment managers to change facemasks and give players the outer shell of a helmet because it fit the player’s head properly. It is possible that the XL shell is that of teammate #77 Willie Roaf, and perhaps Roaf’s face mask was removed and Holmes’ style of face mask was administered to the shell since they had a similar sized head. Nevertheless, we are selling this as a Priest Holmes helmet. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
