For a five year span, Don Mattingly dominated baseball like the other great Yankee players before him. In 1984, Mattingly beat out teammate Dave Winfield for the AL batting crown and became the first Yankee to win the title since Mantle's triple crown season of 1956. He won the AL MVP in 1985 when he drove in 145 runs, the most for a Yankee since DiMaggio in 1948. This 1989 Louisville Slugger game-used bat of the "Hit Man" has been signed by about thirty Yankee players and coaches from the 1989 season. The player number "23" is on the knob in black marker. All the signatures are in black Sharpie and range between 6-8. Names include: Don Mattingly, Dallas Green(Mgr), Dave Righetti, Jesse Barfield, Steve Sax, Frank Howard(coach), Andy Hawkins, Steve Balboni, etc. The bat itself shows game-use.
