It's been said that Michael Jordan was a kind of Picasso in sneakers, creating with his moves a mosaic on the hardwood the way a great artist does with a brush on canvas. Unfortunately, the Old Master never got to see or interpret Jordan on his canvas, but one of this generation's finest folk artists, Steve Sax, has created his vision of Jordan's poetic motion. Sax's semi-caricature oil piece depicts M.J., clad in his red Chicago Bulls uniform, soaring high above the court with his tongue flying, about to throw one down on a helpless Dennis Rodman in his Detroit Pistons days. Sax's own signature move is striking a neat 3-D effect, achieved here by a real 9 1/4"-in-diameter rim and twine basket which extends out from a painted backboard. This guaranteed-to-make-you-smile tribute to the greatest basketball player of all stands 48" x 36" and has a black background and a purple border on the top and bottom edges of the painting. Like Jordan, the painting is a one-of-a-kind original, and captures his essence with the power of a Jordan slam dunk
