Some of the greatest highlights in Olympic history were made at the 1996 Games held in Atlanta, including Michael Johnson's record-setting double in the 200 and 400 meter races, Carl Lewis winning the long jump for his ninth and final gold medal, the U.S. women's gymnastics team taking the gold after a stirring performance by Kerri Strug despite a broken ankle, and swimmer Amy Van Dyken becoming the first American women to win four golds in a single Games. These moments of glory were commemorated by a limited edition of chairs such as this one that were used during the Games and authorized for issue by the 1996 Olympic Committee. The chair is forest green and white and has a gray padded back cushion featuring a multi-colored Atlanta 1996 Centennial Game Torch logo. The chair measures 15" x 16 ½", weighs 20 pounds and comes with a sequentially numbered plague and certificate of authenticity indicating that its number within the edition run is 281 of 402.
