In 1944, the Browns beat the Yankees on the final day of the season to clinch the pennant and face the Cardinals in the World Series. The Browns were the visiting team for Game 1 when Galehouse wore this flannel uniform. He was the winning pitcher in the game, outlasting veteran World Series pitcher Mort Cooper. Inside the rear collar is the “Rawlings St. Louis” manufacturers tag. Attached is the jersey size “44” flag tag. Adjacent to the chain stitch is Galehouse’s signature done in blue marker and in our opinion rates a strong 8. Across the front is “ST. LOUIS.” On the back is player number “30.” All numbers and letters are done in brown on orange felt. On the left sleeve is the war patch. Inside the rear waistband of the pants is the name “Sansoth” embroidered in brown chain stitch. Adjacent is the “Rawlings” manufacturers tag with attached size “38” tag. Inside the front buttons is “44” embroidered in brown stitch. Galehouse recalls how he wore #22 when he came to the Browns in 41-43. In ’44, with military sirens beckoning, #30 was made for a player named Sensoth, who never actually played. When Galehouse was relieved of military obligations, he returned and wore his #30 jersey for the rest of the season. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used in the World Series and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Sourced from Galehouse.
