With a career quarterback rating of 97.6, Steve Young stands as the most accurate passer in the 80-year history of the NFL. Taking over the San Francisco 49ers QB spot from Joe Montana in 1991, Young threw for 175 touchdowns and ran for 33 more until his retirement after the 1999 season, winning league MVP honors in ‘92 and ‘94 and setting a record with six consecutive 300-yard games in 1994. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XXIX, racking up 325 yards and a SB record 6 TD passes. Young wore this San Francisco 49ers helmet during the mid-90s. The mustard-gold helmet has the "SF" logo on each side on a red background and a white stripe bordered by two red stripes running from back to front. The "Riddell" label is in front and "49ers" on the back on a strip of glued-on masking tape, next to the "NFL" sticker. On the inside there is a red label reading "Young 8," and an "8" is hand-written in marker. Two circular pieces of gauze are glued on just behind the ear holes for the sake of comfort. The helmet shows game-use but the exterior and inner padding are in excellent condition.
