Andrew Toney was dubbed "The Boston Strangler" by Boston sportswriters during the 76ers' and Celtics' rivalry in the early 1980s because of his ability to single-handedly dominate games against the Celtics, especially the 1982 Eastern Conference Finals. Toney wore this jersey in the 1982 Conference Finals as well as Game 4 of the 1983 NBA Finals when the 76ers swept the Lakers behind Toney’s 23 points. On the front left tail is the Wilson manufacturers tag size “42” with washing instructions. Adjacent above is the Pearson distributors tag. Across the chest reads “SIXERS”. Adjacent below and on the back is the player number “22”. These are done in white on blue tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “TONEY” in white tackle twill sewn directly into the jersey. This is the most game-use on a basketball jersey we have ever seen. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding multiple season use.
