In 1974, Jim “Catfish” Hunter received both The Sporting News's "Pitcher of the Year" award and the American League Cy Young Award after going 25–12 with a league leading 2.49 earned run average. Catfish won five World Series Championships including three in a row with the Athletics and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987. On the center front tail is the “McAuliffe” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent are three additional labels, “44”, “1974” and a wash instructions label. On the left chest is the team “A’s” logo and the player number “27” appears on back. These are done in green on white tackle twill. The player name “HUNTER” appears across the back in green tackle twill. Hunter signed across the front of the jersey in large marker and in our opinion the signature rates an 8. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate use. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
