Wali Rainer's rookie season as a linebacker for the newly formed Cleveland Browns was sensational. Of his 137 tackles, 111 of them were solo. Playing collegiately at the University of Virginia, his first year was also the inaugural season for the newly formed Cleveland Browns. This 1999 Cleveland Browns road white mesh jersey was worn by Rainer during his rookie season of 1999. In the neck of the jersey is a white label reading "99-48" denoting the year and size, respectfully. At the base of the "V" neck is the "NFL" patch and on the upper left front is the "1999" inaugural season patch. On the left front tail is the "Puma" label and adjacent is the size tag, "48". Next to this is the "4" LB" label denoting four extra inches in body length. On the back of the shirt is a white nameplate with the name "Rainer". The player number "58" appears on the front, back and on each shoulder of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of brown tackle twill. There are repair marks on the front and back of the shirt. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the repair marks, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
