The 1980 United States Olympic Hockey Team will forever remain one of the greatest sporting events of all-time. Sports Illustrated selected the team's victory over the Soviet Union en route to winning the gold medal as the number 1 sports moment of the 20th century. It was a magical ride that happened amidst the backdrop of the Iranian hostage crisis and Soviet invasion of Afghanistan - events that made the now fabled "Miracle on Ice" even more impactful on American history. Offered is a 16x23.5” framed Los Angeles Herald newspaper from February 23rd, 1980, the day after the Americans defeated Russia signed by the USA hockey team. The headlines included on the paper are “The most dramatic upset in Winter Olympic history” and “Paint the puck red, white and blue”. The paper has been autographed by the USA team and is highlighted by a bold Herb Brooks autograph on the top of the page, Jack O’Callahan, Mike Eruzione and many others. The signatures are done in black ink and in our opinion rate between 7-9 with the Brooks being one of the strongest. The outline of the frame consists of hockey sticks put together making this a visually appealing piece of American history. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
