What could be more fitting than for baseball's Iron Horse to be pictured sitting atop a horse of a different (pin)stripe, the four-legged kind. Lou Gehrig looks so natural and rugged in a ten-gallon hat while riding high in the saddle in this dandy of a photo "Rawhide", that it is easy to understand why Gary Cooper was so convincing in his portrayal of Gehrig in "Pride of the Yankees." The photo is a trophy in itself, as it shows Gehrig being slipped a gun by Yankee owner Col. Jacob Ruppert while manager Joe McCarthy and a man named Joseph Bihner look on, and bears the signatures of Gehrig and McCarthy. Gehrig wrote, "To Joseph Bihner, with my sincerest and best always, Lou Gehrig" in blue ink, and the signature is a gem, rating a strong 8, while McCarthy's in black ink rates a seven. The photo comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Cowboy Photo Autographed By Gehrig, McCarthy, Ruppert
