Red Ruffing came to the NY Yankees in 1930 after seven losing seasons with the Boston Red Sox and fashioned a Hall of Fame career, racking up 20-win seasons in four straight Yankee championship years from 1936 to 1939. In all, Ruffing had 273 wins and won seven of nine WS games. He was also the best hitting pitcher of his day, with 36 career home runs.
