For the New York Yankees, the 1964 season was symbolized not by any hitter or pitching arm but a harmonica belonging to utility infielder Phil Linz. When the struggling Bombers lost a July doubleheader and in trouble, Linz began playing it on the team bus, provoking angry manager Yogi Berra to rip it from his mouth. The fracas seemed to galvanize the team, who surged to the last pennant of their 1960s dynasty. This rare color photo of that team was signed by each of the 29 Pinstripers in black marker over their image, including Berra, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard, Joe Pepitone, Tom Tresh, Tony Kubek, Ralph Terry, Clete Boyer, Jim Bouton, Mel Stottlemyre, and Linz (sans harmonica). The signatures rate in the high 8-9s, with Mantle's traced over due to damage on the original signature. The good condition 14" x 19" photo has fold marks on the upper middle and upper right that do not encroach on the players' images. The photo is mounted under glass in a black frame.
