It never gets tiresome talking about the greatest basketball player of all-time. The six-time NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP holds the NBA records for highest career regular season and playoff scoring averages with 30.1 points and 33.5 points per game respectively. The four-time Gold Medal winner was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and in 1996 was named to the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History list. During the 1984-85 season, Jordan was named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year after averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. During his career, Jordan redefined basketball’s relationship with style, the sport’s connection to the youth and the game’s creative potential. Like Jordan himself, his eponymous footwear arrived with a bang and his Jordan 1 shoes remain one of the most popular on the planet. Designed by Peter Moore, Michael Jordan wore Air Jordan 1s in 1984 and 1985, as well as modified versions in 1986. These specific shoes are the iconic “Chicago” colorway, and perhaps the most recognizable for Michael, as well as the Nike brand. From the day it launched, Air Jordans have always represented the pinnacle of sneaker design. The shoes are unmatched when it comes to quality, craftsmanship, materials, innovation, performance, and of course style. Offered are a pair of rookie “Jordan 1” game-used shoes that were a gift from MJ to his favorite photographer, Robert Crawford, from his time at the University of North Carolina. After Jordan left UNC, he was thrilled to see Crawford after the Bulls game against the Indiana Pacers on March 26th, 1985 and gave him this special gift. Jordan scored 38 points, added 9 rebounds and 5 assists in that game. Printed inside the ankle of the right shoe is the size “13 1/2” and printed inside the ankle of the left shoe is the size “13”, which is correct for what Jordan wore as a rookie. The coding on the inside of the shoes states "850102 TYPS.” 850102 refers to the date of production. These shoes were made in 1985 between the months of January (01) and February (02). TYPS stands for “Tong Yang Player Sample'' and means that the shoes are “Player Samples”, produced from the 'Tong Yang' factory. Blue inserts have been added in the insoles for player comfort and padding. The “Chicago'' colorway shoes with black trim and laces show game-use throughout. Jordan signed the inside ankle of both shoes in black marker and in our opinion the signatures rate a combined 7.5. You’d be hard pressed to find a better pair of game-used Jordan 1 gamers. These shoes are properly tagged, were presented to us as game-used and show wear. Accompanied by a LOA from the photographer and a Full LOA from JSA.
