Pee Wee Reese made his baseball bones in his home town of Louisville, Kentucky. In 1939, playing with the Louisville Colonels of the American Association, Reese batted .279 and stole 35 bases in 36 attempts, leading the Brooklyn Dodgers to acquire the slick SS and bring him to Ebbets Field the next year. In mid-season, Pee Wee received this vintage portable radio for playing in the AA All-Star Game. The brown V.G. General Electric radio is 8" x 13" and resembles a small suitcase. It has a plaque reading "The American Association All-Star Game, 1939, Harold H. Reese." There are volume and tuning knobs and a speaker and frequency dial, a handle on top, and a removable back. The battle-scarred radio may not play music anymore, but the memories are loud and clear.
