Hall of Fame umpire Al Barlick took no bull and ruled with an iron hand for 29 years on major league diamonds. This lot is a complete this-is-your-life history of Barlick's long tenure in blue, including his first umpiring contract signed in 1947 for $7,500 and the last uniform he wore in 1976. The contract is among the first 19 contracts kept by Barlick in a loose-leaf folder. The uniform includes a jacket with NL logo, with Barlick's name written in blue marker and "1" on the sleeve, size 40-1/2 pants with his name written on the inseam in blue marker, tie, baseball sack, chest protector, home plate brush, and ball-strike-out indicator. The uniform comes with a letter of authenticity from Barlick.
