Jimmie Foxx was a tough old bird with a soft side that is captured in this autographed photo showing the "righthanded Babe Ruth" with a toothy grin not often displayed when the man known around the game as "The Beast" was blasting tape measure home runs (534 in all) from 1925 to 1945. The truck-like Foxx spanked 58 dingers in 1958, and the following season won the Triple Crown with a .356 average, 48 HRs and 163 RBIs, both while with the Philadelphia A's. He then had a 175-RBI season with the Red Sox in 1938. He spent the war years with the Cubs, when he signed the 8" x 9" sepia-toned photo of him in the team's cap, writing, "To Tony, with sincere best wishes -- 'Jimmie' Foxx," in blue fountain pen. His crystal-clear signature rating a near 10. The photo is in excellent condition.
