Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946 Ed Walsh remains one of the greatest pitchers baseball has ever seen. After a career that lasted 14 seasons with the Chicago White Sox "Big Ed" retired with a 1.82 lifetime ERA, the lowest of all time. In 1908, Walsh had his best season ever as a pitcher, winning 40 games and throwing 12 shutouts. This autographed letter, written entirely in Walsh's hand, was sent to a friend and refers to some letters that both men were waiting for. In the letter, Walsh refers to a "Mr. Weiss", which might be a reference to fellow Hall of Famer George Weiss. The letter itself is in excellent condition with the only minor flaw being the original fold lines from mailing. The signature and handwriting both rate a near 10.
