The New York Giants player-manager Mel Ott won his sixth NL batting crown in 1944 and during the war years established league records at the time for career home runs and RBIs on the way to a lifetime 511 homers and 1,860 RBIs. The cover illustration depicts a smiling Ott in his Giant cap under the famous Time logo and inside a red border. Ott signed his name in blue pen under the image, with the signature rating a strong 9. The magazine is in VG-EX condition with some gentle fraying of pages and a light fold mark on the cover.
